    I am excited about the Keynote to the Getting Started strand and seeing the flip cameras in action. The Seedlings is also a great resource to share with my teachers.

    The new technology that I to add to my practice is using flip video as PD with teachers. The best way to deepen my understanding of collaboration using this technology is to practice, practice, practice….and from the professional development view, I should model, model, model. In order to implement the technologies covered in this keynote I need to get comfortable with the flip video technology and begin to plant seeds in my own teachers. The teachers need to have access to the flip video technology and strategies for taping, editing, posting, sharing. One other important piece is building trust between teachers to use the flip video technology for peer observation and PD.

    In the long term, I want to empower my teachers to share with others using the video technology to learn from one another anytime.

    Wow! I didn’t realize how much I got from this presentation until I started on the reflection process. And could you believe…I was dreading having to go through the PD rubric and develop my narrative? So hats off to the developer(s) of this rubric and to Alice, Bob and Cheryl for a rich and meaningful presentation.

    To submit your PD credit, you can insert the link to your post directly as a comment (paste in the full URL) and indicate your reflection is included on that site. Then check the box at the bottom of the post/comment area of the page, under the captcha. This is a manual way of submitting your trackback post, but is what you will need to do to print your PD certificate. We don’t currently have a way to modify an automatically generated trackback post to indicate it is submitted for credit, but trackbacks are working. Submitting the link in your comment will work to request PD credit.

    Thanks for sharing…key piece for me was that I need to help my teachers see that they are not alone and to help them connect with other teachers just getting on the train. Sounds trivial, perhaps, but feels huge. Thanks!

    1) What will I do to effectively interact with new technologies in my practice?

    3) What do I need to implement this in my classroom?
    b. Takeaways
    I never saw a flip camera until this video. I was inspired by the teacher saying they no longer have to have a “bag of tricks” and just by giving the students the tools they need the can go forward in a nonlinear way and make their learning personal.

    c. Questions you (the participant) have after viewing the presentation:
    I never did get to see the videos. I think it is would be nice to have that incorporated into the talk, instead of just a tease. I have no other questions.
    4. URLs of session and further resources:
    I can’t wait to try twitter. I’ve never tried it yet.
    5. What did you gain from the session in terms of your personal professional development? (See “Methodology” below)
    I learned why the technology is so important in the classroom. If the students can publish their work in a meaningful way, then they are creating in a responsible fashion and fulfilling a need to be productive and make a difference in this world. The whole purpose of learning makes better sense to me now. Also, they said that we need to prepare them for the future and if you leave out social networking you are not preparing them for the future.

    6. How will you apply the learning to your professional situation? I would let the students know that we are all pioneers and this is new for us all teachers and students. Then I would have them to video presentations for a report in an advanced math class eg. geometry. Then the could post their videos and get feedback. If they could redo their video with the feedback, the learning would be richer. They could also be commenting on their peer. This collaboration is something I would try to achieve. I learned in this class it can include students outside of the classroom with the Web 2.0 tools.

    Other questions to consider in this

    7. What other resources, including reading material, are relevant to this?
    This class ties together with the technology classes I have had in NH for professional development and the online classes I have taken. They all are working together to make me prepared to teach in a classroom at a better level.

    I recommend this video and I feel privileged to be part of this session.
