Presentation Description: Connected educators have done an amazing job of flattening their learning experiences for students, and bringing the world into their classrooms. But what happens when we leverage social media to bring about real change locally in our own communities? How do we bring our connections back down out of the cloud to create opportunities for members of our communities to grow and learn together? View three different examples of individuals coming together on regional and state levels through social media to bring about real change and create lasting memories.

Presentation Title: Finding Your People

Presentation Description: This session will focus on the positive changes that can occur in our schools when one “finds their people,” or a group of other like-minded educators. I will discuss a variety of ways teachers can connect with one another on- and off-line to spark their individual passions, as well as provide tips for collaboration and passing on the spark. Examples include: EdCamps, Twitter (citing specific hashtags or chats), Google+ communities, Pinterest, worldwide educational events (Dot Day, Global Read Aloud, Hour of Code), and local and national conferences.

Presentation Description: Integrating technology, web 2.0, and interactive tools in the art room gives students the opportunity to enhance their 21st-century learning skills, practice creative problem-solving, and develop higher-level thinking as they create art. Showcasing student work through online venues opens your art room doors to an authentic global audience, connect students with others in collaborations, and enriches learning for all.
