2007-Teasers

Starting today: Presentation TEASERS!

As in 2006, each week twenty different presentations will be posted here once the conference begins in mid-October. With so many choices, it may be helpful to get a better idea of the issues, tools, and concepts presenters plan to address in their sessions. Our presenters this year have been invited to create short, online videos (published to a website like YouTube or TeacherTube) which will give attendees a better idea of what their presentation will address. These “teaser” videos will hopefully generate and pique interest in presentations prior to the actual start of the conference.

Not all actual conference presentations will be shared as online videos. Presenters have freedom to choose their asynchronous publishing format. Conference presentations will be hosted (as in 2006) by the College of William and Mary.

Please take a few moments to let these presenters know how much you appreciate their creativity and are looking forward to their presentations!

On this day..

  2. Had a message, but was told the spam word was not correct and the forms were cleared when I went back to this page.

Can you provide more information for those of us who can’t watch videos? Are each of these presentations geared towards teachers, admins, school-wide, district-wide, etc? What are they about? The title of the first one is useful, but the titles on the last three leave me guessing…

(Perhaps there will be a presentation on usability & accessibility?)

  4. Hi Dave,

Release the Hounds is about various ways blogs can be used to support learning mathematics in the middle school although I believe Chris Harbeck (the presenter) is trying to spin it so that the pedagogy is scalable across different subject areas.

In Design Matters, Dean Shareski discusses the various ways would should consider design principles in the course of having creating online artifacts and ways we can have our students do the same in the work they create.

In Travel Through Time and Space, Silvia Tolisano shares how she uses various web 2.0 in a global cross cultural project with her class in Florida and another one in China. She will share her process so that others may adapt or replicate it.

In each of the teasers the presenters share what they will be talking about in the presentations. Watch them and you’ll see what I mean. ;-)

  6. Hi, I’m obviously a video junkie and am excited about all the presentations. You see, I teach elementary computers and would like to go beyond the usual. these presentations all speak to me. but i obviously will not have the time to see, view use them all. Is there someone out there who can direct me to specific presentations geared toward K-6? Thank you. Oh, and I know there will be archives, will they be available after the conference? In what format please? And will these be free as well?
